Advocate Support Inspire Create

Welcome to the Music Technology Teacher Network

The Music Technology Teacher Network was created out of a desire to provide advocacy for Music Technology programs for students in grades 6-12 and to support educators who are providing the instruction in this rapidly expanding and relatively new field of music education.

Despite the widely available resources for learning the technical aspects of working with DAWs, notation software, recording techniques, microphones and other software and hardware in the field of music technology, finding practical resources for developing lesson plans, utilization and application of the NAfME music technology standards, the ability to collaborate with other music technology teachers and find engaging and relevant activities required much effort and time that most educators do not have. Music Technology Teacher Network seeks to provide an easy to navigate resource that puts answers and activities within a few clicks for teachers in the music technology classroom/lab.

All music produced in this video was produced by 7th grade beginning music technology students during the 3rd week of the semester using the Soundtrap cloud based DAW.

Music Ed Tech Talk Blog

Welcome to the latest addition to the Music Technology Teacher Network! This blog will be available to all members of the mttn and I will be the primary contributor to this blog. I'm not sure yet exactly what will be the content of the blog, but I envision it to be like a personal journal of my experiences in my classroom, discoveries that I make along the way that I think might be useful for music technology teachers and perhaps to highlight some student work.

I guess we'll see how it develops! In any case, I hope that you will find it useful, encouraging, entertaining or any combination of any of the above. If you like it, please subscribe to the blog, share it with friends and colleagues, and encourage them to subscribe also.

Here we go!
